Reflection # 1

Throughout the intro and the first three chapters of the book I must’ve had about 100 wow moments. The first thing that caught my attention was the question “what happened in the beginning?” (Strayer pg. xli) From their my imagination ran off an a serious tangent. I began to think about Genesis the first chapter in the bible. Then I thought about what was said in class regarding the cosmic calendar and how existence goes back to 13.7 billion years ago. I can’t even think about counting to that many billion years ago let alone think about what the world was like back then.

As I kept reading more things and details caught my attention. “Dark matter” (Strayer xliii) could this really be true? Could there be 90% darkness out there? 90% of this universe that has not been invaded by humans? Then I get to thinking about the first ever know existence of humans that happens to fall in late December of the cosmic calendar. I’m still in aw of that fact.

In come the homo sapiens to change and rule the world! The migration of early hominids shows that characteristic that we still carry on as homo sapiens…..we move if we are not happy or because we don’t have what we need where we are currently. We are always seeking to satisfy ourselves. I was surprised to read that men and women many years ago were actually seen in equal ways. Then time went by and those roles changed for the worst. Now we are going back to our roots of equality among genders.  Another thing that surprised me were the issues among couples in the old days. In all reality we are still facing the same issues today that our ancestors faced thousands of years ago. I’m saddened by that because as smarts homo sapiens we are still not able to figure out solutions to problems that have existed for ages. Some of the issues among the oldest are the views of male and female, work ethics, government, and many others.

AGRICULTURE!  Wow moment! We are a seriously smart species. What will be of this world in 100 years?

More to come…

Short post.
